Surgical & Restorative Procedures The Dental Implant has revolutionised dentistry, improving lives for millions of patients worldwide Dental Implants are artificial roots to which crowns, bridges or dentures are attached. Designing the restoration or prosthesis is a bioengineering project which must be accomplished prior to placing the implants.

Implant dentistry has evolved significantly over the past decade enabling the prosthodontist to diagnose, plan and execute evermore sophisticated procedures. Click the topics to your left on the screen to learn more.

CT scanning and computer simulation software allow the prosthodontist to fabricate stereolithographic models of a patient's jaws. Patients are frequently surprised to see for themselves just how much bone they have lost since they had their teeth.

Stereolithographic models accurately replicate fine details of the anatomy. In some areas of the maxilla (upper jaw) bone resorption has left the bone paper-thin or nonexistent in critical areas precluding implant placement.
